SUSAN MICHELSON began her life in music as a Voice major at Boston University. By day, she studied counterpoint and composition; but at night, her passion and vocation was rock and roll. Her diverse musical experiences took her from singing Opera and Italian Art Songs to R&B, Rock and Country. She has had the honor of working with Michael Jackson, Janet Jackson, Hoyt Axton, Dick Wagner, Alice Cooper, Mary Wells, and Bobby Taylor, among others.
Since 2004, Susan has been personal manager and business partner with the late Dick Wagner, “The Maestro of Rock.” Dick is renowned for his legendary guitar playing and songwriting with Alice Cooper, Aerosmith, Kiss, Lou Reed, Peter Gabriel, Lita Ford, Tina Turner, Etta James, and many more. Susan continues to manage Wagner’s legacy and music, including publishing, branding, promotion, record releases, books, distribution, and more.
In true entrepreneurial spirit, Susan and husband Alex Cyrell founded Omnimount Systems www.omnimount.com in 1978 in their Hollywood garage. Omnimount® universal mounting assemblies are now sold throughout the world in multiple markets: pro audio, consumer electronics, home theatre, security, aerospace, medical, and more. Omnimount products have flown to space on the NASA Space Shuttle, and they are specified by THX for multi-plex cinemas worldwide. Founded also by Michelson & Cyrell, Future Primitive® specializes in museum quality musical instrument replicas. The line has been distributed in more than 50 countries, including thousands of music stores and in sophisticated venues including Carnegie Hall, Kennedy Center, Smithsonian, Royal Albert Hall, among many. Michelson has more than 30 years of experience in international marketing, branding, product design, manufacturing, and distribution.
Since 2005, Suzy has been an Official Judge for Fox television’s Arizona Idol, the advance team that selects contestants for American Idol. Suzy’s team of judges selected Jordin Sparks as the Arizona contestant; Sparks ultimately went on to win the national American Idol contest.
In 2013, Susan and Dick Wagner founded the Rockers for St. Jude and recorded Dick’s song, “If I Had the Time (I Could Change the World), with an all-star group of artists from across five decades of rock and roll: Mark Farner (Grand Funk Railroad), The Angels (My Boyfriend’s Back), Merrilee Rush (Angel of the Morning), Leland Sklar (James Taylor, Jimmy Buffet), Danny Seraphine (Chicago), Elliot Easton (The Cars), Fred Mandel (Elton John, Queen), and many more. In January 2015, Susan founded the Dick Wagner “Remember the Child” Memorial Fund, presenting the first annual concert fundraiser at the Fillmore Detroit, followed by annual concerts at the Fillmore and Motor City Casino Sound Board. The concerts have featured legendary artists Mark Farner (Grand Funk Railroad), Brad Whitford (Aerosmith), Danny Seraphine (Chicago), Derek St. Holmes (Ted Nugent), Johnny Bee Badanjek (Edgar Winter), Jimmie Bones (Kid Rock), Suzi Quatro, Dennis Dunaway (Alice Cooper), John Ellison (Some Kind of Wonderful), and many more. In her “spare time,” Susan is a writer and editor of books and magazines, including Dick Wagner’s multiple award-winning book, Not Only Women Bleed, Vignettes from the Heart of a Rock Musician.” An avid linguaphile and self-proclaimed “word nerd,” Susan speaks Spanish, French, Italian, as well as English.
